The charitable function has been an integral part of Zenia Boulevard's social calendar since 2022, and the event returns to the heart of Orihuela Costa this coming Wednesday 4th February, from 12:00 midday.

Organised in conjunction with Orihuela Costa Pink Ladies & Panthers, World Cancer Day aims to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment.

It's a global campaign led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and the World Health Organisation, and the event organisers are hoping to raise funds for Alicante for the Fight Against Cancer (AACC) – a local non-profit organisation that provides comprehensive care for cancer patients and their families.

Raising awareness of cancer in the community

Last year's event raised 1,390 €, including a 500 € contribution from Zenia Boulevard's management team, and the organisers are hoping to raise additional funds for AACC this year.

Wednesday's event at Zenia Boulevard will be hosted by Simon Morton from Sunshine Radio FM with live music performed by local artists. The day starts at 12:00 with the opening of activities presented by The Pink Ladies & Pink Panthers.

A moment of silence will take place at 15:00 in honour of all those who have lost their lives to cancer – a symbolic gesture of unity and respect. Charity performances will take to the centre stage throughout the afternoon.

Workshops and activities for all ages will take place throughout the day, including painting and games, and a charity sale will offer exclusive products for purchase, with all proceeds going towards the fight against cancer.

Visitors can learn more about cancer prevention, access useful information from the association, and participate in a day dedicated to honouring patients, families, and professionals.

The event reflects Zenia Boulevard's strong commitment to the community and to social causes that contribute to collective well-being, and the shopping centre team hope to highlight the importance of early detection, with a central message: “Early detection saves lives, get screened now.”

Organised by the Orihuela Costa Pink Ladies & Panthers, a team of volunteers dedicated to fundraising activities throughout the year, the event aims to increase cancer awareness and raise much-needed funds for the AACC and the ongoing fight against the disease.

Santa's Walk takes place in La Zenia, with participants dressed as Santa Claus typically taking part in a 5.0 km walk throughout the avenues of Zenia Boulevard and around the local Orihuela Costa area.

Sunshine FM Costa Blanca radio will be on hand, playing a selection of festive family favourites to keep the crowds entertained before and after the walk.

When is Santa's Walk at La Zenia Boulevard?

The charity event takes place on Sunday 7th December 2025, starting and finishing at Zenia Boulevard shopping centre. The Santa's Walk fun run begins at 11:00 with participant registration open from 10:00.

Registration costs 5€ per person, and children aged 12 years or under can join the walk free of charge.

All funds raised will be donated to the AACC to help in the fight against cancer, and items of food or hygiene products will be collected to donate to the Pink Ladies Cancer Support Group.

Play Cafe, Dehesa de Campoamor

Tucked away in a small corner of La Fuente commercial centre, rainy day parents will discover a jungle-themed children's oasis replete with a play village, a large soft-play adventure zone, a video game zone, and a host of free-play toys for younger patrons.

Play Cafe combines a family-friendly casual dining cafe with integrated playtime experiences and specialises in fresh fruit smoothies and milkshakes. The venue has been commended for its upbeat setting and decor, with previous visitors noting the spotlessly clean environment and attentive friendly staff.

An adult's menu offers a selection of healthy light bites such as paninis and a choice of sandwiches throughout the day, while the kid's menu focuses on food more acceptable to a younger audience, such as hot dogs, pasta, and a variety of cakes and cookies.

Bowling Pleno Zenia, La Zenia

When it´s soaking outside, there's plenty of fun to be had inside at Zenia Boulevard. The venue offers 10 bowling alleys and 1,600 metres of arcade games and racing simulators, a gift shop, and a spacious “Dublin House” Irish bar with Guinness on draught (for the parents, obviously).

Family-friendly food is served in the cafeteria and when you're filled with all the bowling action you can take, large TV screens in the bar show the latest international football matches and live sporting events.

Open every day of the week from 12:00 until late, Bowling Pleno Zenia caters for special events and bowling-themed children's birthday parties, fully catered to suit younger tastes including an option to have food delivered from the Burger King menu.

Dream Park, Playa Flamenca

Located in the Flamenca Beach commercial centre, you'll find Dream Park. The venue caters to younger residents and holidaymakers with soft play areas, ball pits, an indoor playground, and a small climbing area with thickly padded crash-mats suited to aspiring future mountaineers.

Regularly organised activities include face painting, craft workshops, magic shows, and musical entertainment.

Side Street Café, La Zenia

This recent family-friendly addition to the Orihuela Costa area guarantees fun for younger children whatever the weather. A dedicated play space provides plenty of fun for little people come rain or shine, and the café menu caters specifically to younger tastes.

Bigger people aren't forgotten though, and the venue offers a mouth-watering selection of handmade beef burgers, tasty breakfasts, cakes and sweet treats. A fully-stocked freezer is packed to the brim with lollies and ice creams to satisfy the sweet-tooth of diners of all ages.

Located in the Costa commercial centre, Side Street Café is open every day from 09:00 until 17:00 throughout the year.

VR Club ES, Torrevieja

Enter a virtual world with Torrevieja's first Virtual Reality centre. VR Club offers a virtual simulated gaming experience for children and young adults alike, catering for individual players or groups of up to 12 people.

The online arena includes headsets with built-in 3D screens, immersive single-player games, or a choice of multi-player role-playing games such as Elven Assassin and Propagation VR.

VR Club offers prices starting from 10€ for 15-minutes of play, special offers on selected games, and a family ticket for 49€ that permits up to five players an entire hour of virtual reality gaming. Cyber X Community, Torrevieja

The Cyber X community is a haven for hardcore gamers, offering 45 super-powerful bespoke gaming PCs, a PS4 Pro gaming zone with large screens, a mini cinema, and a lounge bar for adults and parents.

It's a cheap way to spend a day with gaming prices from just 4€ per hour. A professional racing simulator costs 4€ for 15-minutes, and the mini cinema costs just 10€ for 3-hours of viewing time – with popcorn included. Or pay 10€ and play all day on the PS4s or PCs.

Now in its third iteration, the established annual event, officially titled “III Feria de las Rutas del Vino: Región de Murcia”, is supported by Costa Calida Turistica, Murcia´s official tourism body.

The wine fair celebrates the primary wine routes of the Murcia region, each accredited by the Asociación Española de Cìudades del Vino, an industry body created to promote Spain's agricultural heritage and the growing sector of wine tourism throughout Spain.

The association supports wineries and vineyards that combine traditional wine production methods with modern technologies to produce superior wines of excellent taste and clarity, which showcase Murcia´s use of the finest natural resources.

La Zenia Boulevard: Murcia wine fair III annual event

The event brings together the three best known gastronomic wine routes of the Murcia region: Jumilla, Bullas and Yecla, and representatives from each route will be on hand to inform visitors about wine ecotourism in the area.

Murcia´s historic wine routes allow visitors and locals to experience Spanish wine culture first-hand, by offering visits to local vineyards accompanied by tasting sessions and an informative commentary set within the idyllic Spanish countryside.

This weekend's Murcia wine fair will aim to replicate that experience on a somewhat smaller scale, and visitors to La Zenia Boulevard will be encouraged to taste the award-winning wines firsthand and participate in games and competitions to win prizes.

The event will highlight the superb quality and clarity of Spanish wines, with Murcia's annual wine production enjoying a greater prestige amongst connoisseurs and selective consumers, not only nationally but internationally.

One of the more original events held at Zenia Boulevard, last year's wine fair was incredibly popular, with more than 5,000 attendees participating in the day-long wine fair.

This year the event organisers are providing complimentary live music, with on-stage performances from Che Swing and Marina throughout the day.

The “Jornadas de Puertas Abiertas” presents an opportunity to meet the local Alicante police officers first-hand; the brave men and women who work tirelessly to keep our streets safe and provide security across the Costa Blanca every day.

The force will be exhibiting its latest specialist vehicles, including the wide variety of police patrol cars and their new high-performance traffic motorcycles.

Visitors will be invited to take a detailed look inside the cars, and officers will be on hand to explain the unique role performed by each vehicle.

The family-friendly event will feature an exhibition by the Guardia Civil's K-9 Unit, illustrating how the loveable police dogs are trained and how they work alongside their specialised law enforcement handlers.

Local officers will demonstrate the unseen work and organisation that goes into the preparation for the citizen security patrols that provide a daily presence around the Orihuela Costa area.

Police open day, celebrating 175 years of Spanish service

And at 13:00 the official Guardia Civil Judo team will put on a show of hand-to-hand combat and demonstrate their martial arts finesse.

Attendees are urged to watch the skies, as a helicopter from the Guardia Civil's police aviation unit is expected to attend the event (weather permitting).

The Guardia Civil was established in 1844, and the open day aims to highlight the 175 years of historic service to the country.

The law enforcement officers who serve the Guardia Civil are highly regarded as part of one of Spain´s most prized institutions, and alongside the Policia Nacional and Policia Local, provide safety and security throughout the country.

The open event takes place in the car park adjacent to Zenia Boulevard this coming Saturday 4th May starting at 10:00, with events and displays throughout the day until 18:00.

The shopping centre management team go the extra mile to ensure that children's entertainment is thoroughly catered for, particularly at this time of year when some parents might be struggling to balance work and home life commitments during the extended Spanish summer school holidays.

From charity gala's and live music to wine tasting events that showcase the very best locally produced products from Spanish vineyards, there's always something going on to entertain everyone at Zenia Boulevard.

More than just a shopping centre, the mall has become an integral part of the local Orihuela Costa community offering a unique mix of retail therapy, a broad selection of family-friendly restaurants and casual cafe bars, and year-round events with high-quality on-site leisure facilities.

But this weekend is something very special, as the much-loved mall host the annual Zenia Boulevard summer fiesta, or “Fiestas del Pueblo”, the Town Festival.

If the Christmas events are the most important events in La Zenia's calendar (and they certainly are), then this Saturday's event won't be far behind, both in terms of significance and sheer visitor numbers.

The fun starts at 11:00 tomorrow morning, with a welcome announcement that marks the official opening of the day-long event, accompanied by a “Charanga” a traditional Spanish marching band that will fill the avenues with the sounds of percussion and brass instruments.

Just half an hour later more than 1,000 tickets will fall from the sky in the “Lluvia de Dinero” or money shower, with the shopping mall giving away gift cards worth from €20 to €50, and the chance to participate in the Grand Draw later at 13:00 to win a gift card worth €500.

At midday, the Charanga's will return to the concourses and plazas, this time accompanied by the Giants Parade who will march through the avenues alongside the brass band.

The Zenia Boulevard summer fiesta takes a break for lunch at 14:00, and continuing the theme of giants, a freshly prepared paella of genuinely unrealistic proportions will feed the throngs, with the option of an equally substantial fresh pizza according to taste and preference.

Entertainment continues throughout the afternoon and the shopping centre has something special in store for children too, with organised water games taking place at 16:00 around the central plaza amongst the iconic fountains.

A theatrical and energetic dance parade will weave a path through the mall from 7:00 pm, in an extravagant and colourful display from local dancers.

And finally, at 21:00 the Zenia Boulevard summer fiesta rounds off a day of dazzle and excitement with a live music performance by the legendary Spanish pop icon King Africa.

For those unfamiliar with the artist, King Africa is a popular Latino style dance music project that originated in Bolivia during the early 1990s and features the Argentine vocalist and British descendant, Alan Duffy, as the energetic and colourful frontman.

The group moved to Spain in 1997 and toured Europe extensively the following year, with most dates booked within the Spanish peninsular. Still vastly popular throughout Latin America, King Africa has had notable musical success in Spain and remains incredibly beloved.

As is customary, the stores and shops are laying on some special offers to entice the crowds to indulge in a little retail therapy during the celebrations, and the restaurants will be tempting passers-by with a selection of Spanish and international cuisine.
